The first competitive fixture for my Schalke side was against semi-professional side Eintracht Norderstedt, of the Regionalliga Nord in the DFB-Pokal, the German equivalent of the FA Cup. I was expecting a comfortable afternoon, and luckily it was. We were in control as soon as Konoplyanka scored inside the first minute, with Embolo adding a brace before half-time to secure a 3-0 win. We were drawn away against Hoffenheim in the second round, which will be a tough game.
